Internet utilization

Corporate Web sites are serious business. They can be the first impression that people have of your company. Page layout, site performance, graphics, and content all contribute to your image. A site developer must not only understand general marketing principles and presentation techniques, but must have a technical knowledge of your products.

Our work on large corporate external Web sites is invaluable experience that we bring with us as we work with you to build or rearchitect your Web site. We believe that Web sites must be professional, easy to use, content rich, and leave the visitor with a great experience and a positive impression about your company.

Our strong project management background along with excellent writing and organization skills result in successful Internet solutions like these:

WebLogic, Inc.

Service:   Web site development

Task:   Develop and implement a Web site plan to update the company's current site that had experienced tremendous content and visitor growth during the previous six months. Support the MarComm staff by editing online marketing material.

Solution:    Wrote a project plan that defined a new site structure and site goals and future growth phases. Worked with a graphic design firm and corporate managers to deliver phase I of the plan. This phase included a reorganization of the site content and new homepage. Phase I was implemented during the company's major trade show participation.

The next phase of the redesign is to present the 2,000-plus pages of marketing and technical documentation in one of three technology "centers." One center for readers new to Java, the second for general information about Java and applications servers, and the third for technical documentation that is specific to WebLogic products. Also in this phase, more corporate information is to be added for Sales, hiring, and Customer Support.

Task:  Create a new Web site for a California state historic park that describes the park, documents its history, markets membership in the park’s supporting association, educates adults and children about the history of power delivery in California, and promotes fund raising for the park's new visitors' center. When the visitors’ center is completed, the Web site will be used as a Kiosk application.

Solution:   The Web site is designed and is being prototyped. We are writing grant proposals for the association to help them underwrite the development and maintenance costs of the Web site.

The site will contain interactive Shockware movies about power delivery, an interactive area for children and teachers, virtual reality tours of the Powerhouse, a vast archive of historic documents, and a shopping cart application for the park’s gift store. The Web site prototype is also being used in the association's efforts to acquire funding for the construction of a visitors’ center.
